What Are Great Plus Size Costume Ideas?

I'm a nineteen year old girl and has no idea what to be for Halloween this year. Most likely I'll end up going to a party with friends. I want my outfit to be something cute and more on the girlie side. I don't want an outfit that revealing or anything. Something I could put together myself would be even better. I don't want to have to deal with the whole online ordering of things. Please anyone ideas.

Hey Lyssa, I was shopping around for a good plus size costume as well – which is how I found your question. I was thinking of making my own costume to save on money and just to get something to fit. I don’t have a lot of spare time for this though and it seems silly to put so much time into something I’ll only get one night’s wear out of. I didn’t know that many companies now make costumes in plus sizes and some of them are really hot (without being too revealing).
The good online sources will actually have plus size models showing the costumes. At the very least they are good for ideas and you’ll get a sense of how you’ll look on the big Halloween night!
If you don’t want to deal with online ordering (although I personally love it because you’ll get more selection, save gas and most of the costume shops offer free shipping and next day shipment) – check into some of the women plus size stores. Although they can be a lot more expensive you’ll get to try them on before committing.
You can’t go wrong with a witch!! Get those cutie stockings you know the ones with the stripes; purple and black or orange and black and get a cheap wig at Walmart for under $10 in the same color, orange or purple…..paint your face a tint of green, accenting your eyes and brows with black, black lip stick and nails…..black dress and black witches hat…….very nice get up!!
OR a vampire…..spray your hair black OR buy a long inexpensive wig and buy some dollar store bling to stick in it to make it less drab, whiten your face a bit but not too much and put dark purple dollar store lip stick on…..and again, dress in black. I just got a long black gown and veil at a local thrift store for $20!!

my sister is plus size she has been a french maid, raggedy ann, a indian… you can always do a 80s theme, wear all kinds of bracelets, lots of makeup tease your hair, cut the top of a sweatshirt wear bright colors an a headband… you get the idea?

There are several things you could choose from! For example:
Hippie- Bell bottom pants or long flowing skirt or short cutoff shorts, tie dyed shirt, peace signs everywhere, headband with beads and peace signs.
Flower Child- Any outfit, glue/sew/tape real or fake flowers all over your clothes.
80’s Punk Rocker- Short skirt, tights, off the shoulder or stylishly ripped shirt with a tank underneath, really funky teased hair (sprayed a different color, with glitter) or a wig, guitar or microphone.
Female Pimp- Feather boa, bell bottom pants, really loud shirt, pimp hat, little notebook with names and numbers of guys you’re going to ‘pimp’ out!
School Girl- Plaid skirt, button up shirt with tie, knee high socks, dress flats, glasses, pigtails, books.
Baby- Pigtails or “Pebbles Flintstone” hair, pink baby-doll tee, sheet or towel wrapped around you like a diaper and pinned with baby safety pins (you can get really cute ones at JoAnn Fabrics), pink socks, pacifier (you could get one that’s halloween themed) with pacifier clip, and “drink” from a baby bottle all night (I would cut the end of the nipple off, or poke a bigger hole if you’re actually going to use it to drink from), baby food jar (if you don’t know anyone who has a baby, and you don’t want the food to go to waste, the applesauce isn’t too bad), have one of your friends go as your mommy or daddy.
Deadly Beautician- Cute outfit with fake blood on it, wig terribly cut with fake blood on it, safety scissors with fake blood on them, blow dryer with retractable cord, stylist’s belt, and combs with hair and blood from the wig in the teeth, maniacal make-up and smile, hair really messed up.
Go-Go Dancer- Really short dress, tights, go-go boots, hair in a really high ponytail.
Airplane Stewardess- Pleated skirt, button up shirt with scarf tied around neck, wings pinned to your shirt, a name badge, hat.
Nurse or Doctor- Scrubs (you can buy at most Wal-Mart stores), toy doctor kit, name badge, nurses hat or doctor’s lab coat (the hat may be easier to find, or you could make one), pull your hair back in a ponytail.
