How about the girl from “Hairspray?” She is a sassy, plus-sized girl who loves to sing and dance, and the re-make of the movie just came out this year, so it’s a timely costume.
Other ideas:
Ursula the Sea Witch (The Little Mermaid)
A 1920’s flapper
A Geisha woman from Japan (kimono, white face paint, etc.)

What do you like as far as characters in movies? Did you want to have a costume that is scary or practical? Witches are pretty easy to pull off, just wear allot of black. Grab a broom, I am sure you can find a hat at, any store to go with your outfit.
First thing that came to mind is a bar wench. You can wear a corset and show off your curves, and wear a white ruffled shirt under and a long skirt and boots.

I always say if you can’t find a costume where you don’t liek the dress it comes with, etc – you wear your own dress or outfit that you really like and you doll it up with accessories and you could be anything!
