Don't you know that Evil jesters are not really evil? They just started becoming evil-like when the comic series of Batman in 1966 made Jesters as an evil adversary of the comic hero. They were not really an evil jester all through their existence. In fact, they hired by royal courts for the sole reason to entertain. These court jesters were "licensed" to tell a joke. They are given authority by the court to act like a fool and were excused from acting deviant or improper in public. They were sometimes referred as toys and puppets by other people and were not given much attention to. Some even treat them as a mad man thus they were excused by any untoward actions.

But in literature, the silly jester costume is a symbol of honesty and common sense. Because these jester's license to be a fool in public, they were even given the authority to be blunt to a point of criticizing their masters and mistresses. They could give offensive remarks without being punished by their monarchs. They could mock freely and speak advice and their observation without stop.

The end of this jesters however, came during the Civil War. There was just no room for entertainment under the new leader. That was also struggling point of theaters. But the modern jesters resurfaced in a form of a a Baffoon. This is someone who uses ridiculous look and clothing to amuse people. They are the clowns these days. The appearance of these clowns were so much similar to the jesters yet, some of them lacks the talent of those licensed fools.

However, these jesters were no longer amusing nowadays. They are more like the evil versions of clowns. If the clowns are the happy people. The evil jesters are the bad counterpart. Therefore, the usual image of the court jesters became an evil version of the modern clowns these days.
